Discover the Secret to Ageless Eyes: The Power of Eye Creams Unveiled

We often hear that the skin around our eyes is delicate and that we need to pay attention to it because it is often overlooked. However, to properly incorporate effective eye care into our routines, we first need to understand the importance of eye creams and the benefits they offer.

In this article, we will explore the importance of using an eye cream and the benefits of specific ingredients.

Understanding Eye Creams

You may be wondering why regular moisturisers are generally not suitable for the skin around your eye area and why you need to look for a specific eye cream.

Firstly, the skin around your eyes is very delicate and is actually 10x thinner than the rest of the skin on your face. Because normal moisturisers are formulated for the whole face, they can often be too ‘harsh’ and heavy for your eye area and cause irritation and build-up. In addition, regular moisturisers may lack the consistency, absorption rate, and eye-targeted ingredients to prove beneficial to the area around your eyes. This is why brands like Fresh Face Skin formulate their eye creams specifically for the delicate area around the eyes and to address the concerns that are common in this area.

Importance of Using Eye Cream

Hydration

The skin around the eyes is delicate and also lacks oil glands, making it more susceptible to dryness. Eye creams are specially formulated to provide hydration and moisture with the right consistency and absorption rate to prevent the risk of clogging the delicate pores of this area. Another benefit of moisturising eye creams is that they also help to prevent the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and eye-bags, as well-hydrated skin often appears firmer and more youthful.

Reduces the appearance of dark circles

The main factors that contribute to dark circles are genetics, lack of sleep, and poor circulation. Eye creams containing ingredients that improve puffiness, skin tone and reduce pigmentation can significantly reduce the appearance of dark circles. Again, these ingredients need to be specially formulated into an eye cream as their presence in regular moisturisers can prove to be too much for the delicate skin around your eyes.

Aids in premature ageing

The skin around your eyes can be prone to premature ageing, this could be due to constant movement of your eyes or exposure to environmental stressors. To combat this, eye creams often contain ingredients that can help improve the elasticity of the skin around your eyes and reduce the appearance of fine lines, as well as containing antioxidants to help protect the area from its environment.

Reduces puffiness

We have all had puffy eyes at some point in our lives. This could be due to lack of sleep, allergies, or fluid retention, but whatever the cause, puffy eyes can make you feel self-conscious and look tired. Eye creams specifically formulated to reduce or prevent puffiness often contain ingredients that can help relax the muscles while improving circulation around the eyes, resulting in less swelling. This reduced swelling can promote a more vibrant, revitalised appearance.

Firming

As we age, the skin around our eyes can begin to lose elasticity and sag. Eye creams containing ingredients with natural firming properties can provide an immediate lifting effect, improving the firmness and tightness of the skin around the eyes and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Key Ingredients in Fresh Face Skin’s Eye Cream

NaturePep Quinoa

NaturePep Quinoa is a natural extract derived from quinoa seeds. It contains high levels of amino acids that help to nourish and brighten the skin surrounding your eyes. This ingredient works to reduce pigmentation and uneven skin tone, making it an excellent addition to eye creams that target dark circles and discolouration. This ingredient is also proven to reduce under-eye bags and puffiness by 37% after just 28 days of use, helping to reduce the appearance of tired eyes fast!

L22

L22 is a patented blend of botanical oils that replicate the lipid barrier profile of healthy, young skin. By restoring the skin’s lipid barrier, L22 helps to improve moisture retention, elasticity, and firmness, as the skin’s lipid barrier is responsible for retaining moisture and protecting against external environmental aggressors. Therefore, eye creams containing L22 can effectively reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and dryness by reducing moisture loss and protecting the overall health of the skin around your eyes.

Argireline

As mentioned above, because the skin around the eye is subject to movement and environmental factors, it can be susceptible to premature ageing and fine lines forming.

Argireline is a peptide that works to reduce muscle movement and prevent the formation of expression lines. By reducing the excessive contraction of the muscles around the eyes, Argireline helps to minimise the appearance of premature ageing symptoms such as crow’s feet and wrinkles.

Easyliance

Easyliance is a natural firming agent derived from acacia gum, which is especially beneficial for reducing puffiness around the eyes while tightening and softening fine lines. Easyliance works by forming a thin, invisible film on the skin, providing an immediate lifting and firming effect. Eye creams containing Easyliance can help reduce puffiness, tighten sagging skin, and improve the overall appearance of the eye area.

These ingredients mentioned are just some of the active ingredients found in the Fresh Face Skin Bright eyes eye cream that can target multiple concerns around your eyes that regular moisturisers cannot.

In summary, as the eye area skin is 10x thinner and is proven to age 36% faster than the rest of the face, it is important to give your eyes extra attention by incorporating an eye cream into your daily skincare routine. Eye creams are essential for maintaining the health and vitality of the delicate skin around your eyes. Brands such as Fresh Face Skin, founded by Amelia Goff, work hard to incorporate ingredients that work on multiple levels, such as minimising fine lines and wrinkles, brightening tone and reducing pigment formation, preventing puffiness, providing firming and lifting effects, and more. By investing in a quality eye cream and applying it consistently, you can maintain the vitality of the skin around your eyes, while reducing premature ageing.

Unlocking the Power of Hydrosols: The Secret Ingredients Transforming Skincare and Elevating Your Glow

When it comes to skincare, there is always something new to learn and a new ingredient to explore. One such ingredient that has gained popularity in recent years is hydrosols. Hydrosols have now become a staple in many waterless skincare brands and a selling point for waterless skincare products, but what are their unique properties and benefits that have everyone checking ingredient lists for them?

In this article, we will explore the world of hydrosols, understanding what they are, how they are made, which types are commonly used in skincare and what benefits they offer.

What are Hydrosols?

Hydrosols, also known as “hydro-distillates,” are the by-product of the production of essential oils. Specifically, they are the by-product of the steam distillation process used to produce essential oils from plant material.

This steam distillation process begins when plant material such as flowers, leaves, or herbs are placed in a distillation apparatus. The apparatus uses steam to pass through the plant material, causing the essential oils to evaporate. The steam carrying these essential oils is condensed and then collected. The collected liquid contains both essential oil and hydrosol, with the essential oil floating to the top of the collected liquid and the hydrosol remaining at the bottom.

The two are separated, resulting in an essential oil and hydrosol of the plant from which it is made.

What makes Hydrosols different from essential oils?

The difference between essential oils and hydrosols is that essential oils are highly concentrated and often need to be diluted before being used directly on the skin. Essential oils can easily cause irritation and damage when used directly on the skin. On the other hand, hydrosols can be applied directly to the skin without dilution and have a more subtle, delicate scent of the plant they are made from. They also contain a wide range of water-soluble compounds from the plant they are made from. These water-soluble compounds include aromatic molecules, phytonutrients, organic acids, vitamins, and minerals, making hydrosols an easy addition to boost your skin routine. This is why more brands, such as House of Immortelle, often use hydrosols in their products.

What are the benefits of hydrosols?

The most significant benefit of hydrosols is their hydrating and moisturising properties. Because hydrosols contain water-soluble components that are easily absorbed by the skin, they help to replenish the skin’s moisture levels, leaving it feeling soft, plump, and supple.

The second major benefit of hydrosols is their soothing and calming properties. These properties are ideal for sensitive skin as they can help reduce redness, inflammation, and discomfort. This can be useful for those with conditions such as eczema or rosacea. And because hydrosols are gentle by nature, they can be used without fear of causing further irritation.

Hydrosols also often contain the antioxidant properties of the plant they are made from. Antioxidants help protect the skin from environmental damage and premature ageing, and can neutralise harmful radicals, further reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots. In addition, hydrosols support the skin’s natural barrier, helping it to defend itself against external pollutants, irritants, and other aggressors.

Finally, hydrosols often have therapeutic properties due to the flavonoids, terpenes and phenols contained in their key compounds, which are derived from the plant from which they are made. This makes hydrosols a good and natural mood enhancer that can be sprinkled throughout the day.

In short, hydrosols have a wide range of benefits that can be summarised as moisturising, gentle, skin-enhancing, and therapeutic.

What are the different types of hydrosols?

Because hydrosols are made from plant material with their own specific benefits, their range of benefits also vary depending on which plant material they were derived from.

Here are some hydrosols that are commonly used due to their specific benefits.

1.    Rose Hydrosol

Derived from rose petals, rose hydrosols are often used for their soothing and hydrating properties. They help to balance the skin’s natural pH level and are suitable for most skin types, including sensitive and mature skin. As well as moisturising, rose hydrosols help to reduce redness and inflammation while promoting a revitalised complexion. They also contain a mild rose scent known for its calming effect on the mind and emotions. One way to incorporate rose hydrosols into your skincare is by opting for a mist such as this House of Immortelle Hydrating Rose Facial Mist.

2.    Chamomile Hydrosol

Chamomile hydrosols are known for their gentle and soothing properties, very similar to those of the chamomile flowers from which they are derived from. Because of these soothing properties, chamomile hydrosols are known to be particularly beneficial for sensitive and inflamed skin, as it can help to soothe and comfort irritated skin. It also reduces redness, soothes itchiness, and contains antioxidants that support skin health.

3.    Lavender Hydrosol

Lavender hydrosol is known for its soothing and balancing properties. It is ideal for acne-prone and sensitive skin as it can soothe irritation and promote a clearer complexion. Lavender hydrosols also have antiseptic properties that help heal and prevent breakouts.

Those are some of the most commonly used hydrosols in skincare and what makes them so beneficial.

Hydrosols have become a valuable addition to the world of waterless skincare. Derived from steam distillation, these floral waters offer numerous benefits, including hydration, soothing and antioxidant properties. They replace harsh toners and provide a natural alternative that nourishes the skin without causing irritation.

How Collagen Can Help Combat Acne and Transform Your Skin: Unveiling the Secrets to Clear, Radiant Complexion

In the search for healthy and radiant skin, a popular ingredient that emerges is collagen. Collagen plays a vital role in maintaining skin health and combating various skin conditions, including acne. In this article, we will explore the nature of collagen, its specific benefits in improving acne, the different types of collagen, and where they can be found.

What is collagen?

Collagen is a fibrous protein that serves as the basic building block for various tissues in our bodies, including skin, bones, tendons, ligaments, and cartilage. Specifically in relation to the skin, collagen provides strength, elasticity, and firmness, which contributes to a youthful experience. There are several types of collagen available to us, but type 1 is the most prevalent in the skin, making up about 80% of its composition.

Collagen and Acne

Acne is a common skin condition that affects many people. It is often characterised by the formation of pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads. Some of the common causes of acne are clogged hair follicles and excessive sebum production.

Although collagen has many benefits, its acne benefits are often overlooked. Here are some of the ways collagen for skin can help troubled skin.

1. Wound healing

Acne often results in inflamed, painful lesions and blemishes. Therefore, collagen can be beneficial in helping to heal these painful lesions as collagen is involved in the early stages of wound healing, initiating the process by attracting cells such as fibroblasts to the wound site. Collagen also helps by promoting tissue repair and stimulating the production of new skin cells. As a result, collagen helps to reduce scarring and post-acne hyperpigmentation.

2. Skin regeneration

In general, collagen supports skin regeneration by promoting skin cell turnover, which is part of the skin’s natural renewal process where old skin cells are shed and replaced by new cells. Collagen supports this renewal of skin cells, contributing to a healthier complexion. In addition, by helping to shed off dead skin cells and encouraging the growth of new skin, collagen can also help to prevent clogged pores and reduce the formation of acne.

3. Reduce inflammation

Inflammatory responses play a crucial role in the development of acne. Collagen has anti-inflammatory properties that can help soothe inflamed skin, minimise redness and reduce acne-related inflammation. Collagen does this by suppressing the production of inflammatory mediators, such as cytokines and enzymes that are heavily involved in inflammatory responses. By suppressing the production of these mediators, collagen can help calm inflamed skin, reduce redness, and promote a calmer complexion.

4. Moisture Retention

Collagen has excellent water-binding properties, helping to retain moisture in the skin. It helps to form a protective barrier on the skin’s surface, preventing excessive water loss and maintaining hydration. Well-hydrated skin helps regulate the production of sebum and reduces the likelihood of excess oil, which can contribute to the formation of acne. This is why collagen, which promotes moisture retention, can reduce the formation of acne.

Types of Collagen and Sources

Collagen can be obtained from various sources, including both natural and supplemental forms, such as these collagen for acne options from The Collagen Co. Here are some common types of collagen and their sources:

1. Type I Collagen

Type 1 collagen is the most abundant type of collagen in the human body, as it is found in various tissues, including skin, bones, tendons, ligaments, and organs. The triple helix structure of type 1 collagen allows it to resist stretching forces, making it essential for maintaining the integrity and firmness of the skin. Natural sources of type 1 collagen include bone broth, chicken, fish, and egg white.

2. Type II Collagen

Mainly found in cartilage, type II collagen is essential for joint health as it acts as a cushion between joints, providing flexibility and shock absorption. It may also indirectly benefit acne-prone skin by reducing inflammation and supporting overall skin health. Common sources of type II collagen include chicken cartilage and collagen supplements derived from the chicken sternum.

3. Type III Collagen

Interestingly, type III collagen is often found alongside type I collagen and is abundant in the skin, blood vessels, and internal organs. Type III collagen is particularly beneficial in the early stages of wound healing and tissue repair. It works alongside type I collagen to aid and support tissue regeneration. Natural sources of type III collagen include fruits, vegetables, fish, or supplements derived from these sources.

Collagen is a powerful compound that can aid in the fight against acne. With its ability to promote wound healing, facilitate skin regeneration, reduce inflammation, and improve moisture retention, collagen can provide visible benefits for those prone to acne.

Whether through natural dietary sources or through supplements, incorporating collagen into your skincare routine can contribute to a clearer, more radiant complexion. Including collagen in your diet can also improve overall health, not just skin health. Including collagen in your diet can also improve your overall health, not just the health of your skin, making it an all-around compound that is crucial to your overall health.

How has your experience as a beauty queen impacted your life?

Being fairly new to pageantry, I really had no idea what to expect on my Ms. World Universal journey and was looking forward to a year of learning, growth, connections, and community service.

The experiences and the connections I have made along the way have afforded me many opportunities to represent the crown, the World Universal organization, and various socio-economic causes here in Australia and globally. This has inherently greatly made my life richer and centered me in my vision as a changemaker.

Can you share some memorable moments from your reign as the beauty queen?

Some of the standout moments are ones that allowed me to venture into new territory and extend my core mission in advocacy.

I was able to continue my multi-year partnership with Team4Tech and attend the annual Impact Celebration in San Jose, CA. This was a great milestone because equality in Education is a critical global socio-economic cause that is essential in creating opportunities and affording everyone a fair chance of success. As a technologist, It is a privilege to leverage my skills in partnership with Team4Tech to impact under-resourced learners.

I also got appointed as the Women of Color Australia’s [WoCA] Inaugural Ambassador for the WoCMentorWoC program. This role provided a space to connect and share with other Women of Colour in Australia, which helped me learn how to navigate some of my own challenges and find healing.

I have also had several opportunities to network with local and global beauty queens by attending other pageant events. I also had fun participating in local fashion shows – showcasing Australia’s designers, connecting with the extended community to support local charities, and sharing my story and journey through various magazine features | covers | articles | and blogs.

What advice would you give to the new winner who is about to embark on her own journey?

The international crown is bigger and the limelight definitely brighter, and to win such a prestigious title is an honor and a huge responsibility. So my advice to my successor is to stand in your truth and ground yourself in your power – you will always win if you come from a place of authenticity.

Also, embrace every opportunity that comes your way and celebrate ALL your wins.

How do you feel about passing on the crown and title to a new beauty queen?

My predecessor illuminated the path for me, and it would be an absolute honour to pass on the torch. My life’s work does not end because I am passing on the title; it means that my successor gets to live out her dreams.

We are all part of a global World Universal family that will always support and cheer on one another. All the lessons, advice, and opportunities I have enjoyed this year have equipped me with what I need for the next chapter of my journey.

So my hope is that I leave a legacy that my successor will embrace and find inspiration to take her vision to the next level.

What were the biggest challenges you faced during your time as the reigning beauty queen?

Being a beauty queen has a lot of advantages and can also have its challenges. Flaws and errors are magnified because the limelight is brighter, and the responsibility as a spokesperson, role model, and community servant are constantly under scrutiny, which can be quite confronting.

I would have loved to support many more organizations, but It was very difficult to choose which worthy causes to promote. Some of the challenges with that were driven by the stigma that is still attached to beauty pageants. I found that I often needed to educate others on the crown, platform, and purpose to get buy-in or to shift some of the unfavourable perceptions.

How did you balance your personal life with your duties as a beauty queen?

As a delegate, it was extremely important for me to find the right platform – one that aligns with my core values and one that was an extension of my life goals. As Ms. World Universal, I was navigating an unfamiliar territory where few have walked.

It was sometimes difficult to say NO to some of the many great opportunities afforded to me. So in order to find the balance between a very demanding career, my personal life, hobbies, and the responsibilities of the crown, I needed to be very intentional about my choices and make sure that my physical and mental health took precedence over everything else.

What valuable lessons have you learned during your tenure as the beauty queen?

My biggest lesson was learning to celebrate being different and sharing my passions with other titleholders and the community. There is strength in numbers, and having the right team, community support, and platform is important. I learned the value of leveraging my networks, including social media, because collective voices are essential to make a difference.

Another powerful lesson was that authenticity wins every time – people can only connect with you if you are open and standing in your true light. While my reason for joining the World Universal family was never about winning a competition, I learned I needed to remind myself of and lean on my own strength.

Can you describe the impact and responsibilities that come with being a role model for others?

The role of a beauty queen is quite extensive and I needed to be open to constant learning and regularly check in with myself to ensure I was still aligned in pursuing my path.

As a role model, It is critical to retain independence in thought and stay grounded, which means embracing the challenges, having empathy and humility, and connecting with others.

Role models need to be able to articulate their message effectively, so knowing your purpose and having a well-defined plan is important. Learning from every interaction, building connections, and sharing are all part of the role.

What are your plans and aspirations after passing on the crown?

I have had a great platform to stand on, and when I look back at the impact I was able to make in a year, I am motivated to continue in my life’s work in advocating for a kinder, more inclusive world.

I also intend to keep pursuing my existing partnerships with local and global NGOs and expand my network to hopefully have a wider outreach for many years to come.

How do you think the experience of being a beauty queen will shape your future endeavors and career?

Historically, some of the beauty queens have moved on to pursue public-facing roles, becoming some of the popular change-makers. These title holders went on to achieve great things in their personal, professional, and philanthropic endeavors.

My vision for my future and my legacy is to be remembered as a selfless person, fearless in the pursuit of her dreams, a great friend, and someone who used her voice to influence positive change that impacted other people’s lives.

“Don’t let others tell you what you can’t do. Don’t let the limitations of others limit your vision. If you believe in yourself, you can achieve what you never thought possible.”

The event featured a range of exciting initiatives comprised of activations, panel discussions, cultural exhibitions, and runway shows celebrating diversity and inclusion in Australia. Patrons witnessed a diverse showcase of 36 traditional dresses, including countries; China, Australia, Fuji, the Philippines, Armenian, Russia, and India. Artists, politicians, foreign ministers, and fashion designers gathered at the Powerhouse Museum. It’s not every day a fashion show takes place underneath the Powerhouse’s iconic objects; the Catalina flying boat, famously piloted by Sir P G Taylor, where he undertook the first return from Australia to South America.

The Director of Gandhi Creations and India Australia Business Awards, Sonia Sadiq Gandhi, conceived FOMA after she saw the opportunity to foster social cohesion amongst foreign governments and strengthen the trade and goods between foreign governments.

Some of the notable designers who showcased at FOMA 2022 included one of the most celebrated fashion designers Vivian Chan Shaw, who is known for her detail-oriented designs made from jersey and silk. Her career started in the 1960s as a designer and fashion coordinator at leading bridal fabric specialists Rene and Cannes at the House of Merivale.

Like a Bowerbirds’ nest where you can find all sorts of scraps, trinkets, and materials that create cohesive structure, Australian designer Sally Jackson delved into the process of deconstructing used garments and making them intricate yet beautiful clothing. In her collection at FOMA 2022, she imagined a world where vintage and waste textiles were reimagined into a new design language. Prints, patterns, and embellishments pushed the limits of sensory overload and blurred the line between waste and high fashion.

The comeback of FOMA was definitely a smashing success! Congratulations, Gandhi Creations, for organising this fabulous event – more power to you and your team.

A serial entrepreneur, Stella Bella is currently a managing partner of Rice Remedy Group. She has built a career taking startups to multimillion-dollar success stories as a former director and the first female lead of SoGal Sydney. This venture firm is one of the largest global platforms for diverse entrepreneurs and investors. She was also a trained radiographer in Sydney until she decided to quit and buy a one-way ticket to Thailand. After some much-needed deep soul searching, she eventually decided to establish a factory that manufactures natural skin care and herbal supplements. Fast forward to today, and she has grown the business, eventually selling it for a 7-figure sum.

Stella wears many hats as an entrepreneur. She was a brand ambassador for women’s activewear and workout clothes retailer Lorna Jane. She has hosted TV shows for Tencent (the largest tech company in Asia and owner of WeChat), founded the Thailand Farmers Market, worked with Celebrity Chef Mathew Kenny consulting about Thailand Resorts, and her marketing initiatives have led to news video coverage from CNN and BBC resulting in millions of views.

Stella is currently referred to as ‘Stella Rice Girl’ – a managing partner of the Rice Remedy Group, where she manages its day-to-day operations. She’s currently pitching for a fund with Country Road. When she’s not working, she is out in nature, trekking the mountains, kayaking the oceans, getting stretchy on a yoga mat, or cooking in the kitchen.

Sassy & Co magazine recently caught up with Stella to discuss her journey in the fashion industry, and here’s what went down:

What are you currently doing to maintain/grow your business?

Word-of-mouth referral. People talk. Getting new business via referrals is easily the most profitable strategy for new business, as consumers referred by a friend are four times more likely to buy. My latest venture Rice Remedy Co. offers a monthly skincare and personal subscription. I only make 1000 kits per country per month. Have you ever purchased something just because your friend told you that you should? I know I have! So, ensuring I do everything possible to encourage my clients to recommend my product to others is vital to the growth of my business. So I am focused on top-end quality service and products that people can rave and talk about. Thus leveraging my current client base to drive referrals and grow this venture.

What social media platforms do you usually use to increase your brand’s awareness?

Facebook and Instagram were the first two social media platforms I grew up with and am familiar with. I used to joke that I stopped at one static Instagram post. However, I have to catch up with the times and am currently learning TikTok and reels.

What is your experience with paid advertising, like PPC or sponsored content campaigns? Does it work?

I made some expensive mistakes and learned some costly lessons. It can give you immediate visibility; you can target your specific market, track and have data sets to understand and know what is working and not working. Traditionally you might not, for example, retail on a brick-and-mortar; you would have these data sets. In my experience, paid advertising like PPC or sponsor campaigns allow me to test the marketing message and gives me data to make informed decisions about what is working and not working. It also allows me to set a tight budget and ad spend, which is helpful. So does it work? It depends on the KPI and your goal for doing it. You have to know your KPI and performance metrics. Marketing and sales are two different things. Marketing is about building awareness, and sales turn that viewership into profits by converting potential customers into actual customers. So you have to work out the return on the investment.

What form of marketing has worked well for your business throughout the years? Word of mouth.

What is the toughest decision you had to make in the last few months?

Culling my contacts and circle, setting boundaries, and saying no to things and people not aligned with my value vector. Tough when I am a nice YES girl at heart.

What money mistakes have you made along the way that others can learn from (or something you’d do differently)?

Not learning financial 101, basic profit/loss statements, and balance sheets, and investing time in learning it and being the expert at it, reviewing it monthly and quarterly and knowing where there is a hole in the pocket, and coming back to the numbers. Money is energy and is like a tree. You need to understand your business financially for the tree to be healthy and reap the fruit; you need to know what it needs to grow, what nutrients, and when to water it. That’s how I see the money. Understand the nature of your business and what is required to make it grow into a healthy money tree for you.

What new business would you love to start?

I love cooking. It is like my therapy, so rice remedy co. For rice lovers, a coffee/florist/ healthy Thai street food.

If you could go back in a time machine to the time when you were just getting started, what would you do differently?

Listen to my gut and not let the noise of others distract me from my inner voice.

What is the best advice you have ever been given?

When all the money is taken from you, real wealth is what you have left.

What advice would you give to a newbie Entrepreneur setting up their first business?

Getting it done is better than perfect. If you’re not embarrassed by the first launch, you have launched too late. Ditch perfect! Do and learn; practice makes perfect.
